Sarens loads-out two jackets in Cadiz, Spain for the Tyra East Future Field Project

During the Covid-19 pandemic, local restrictions, and a country-wide lockdown, Sarens performed the load-out of two jackets in Cadiz, Spain for our client Dragados Offshore SA.

Sarens’ crew had to load-out two jackets – TEG and TEH for the Tyra East Future Field project. The TEH jacket weighed 5081T and the TEG jacket weighed 7513T. The equipment used were:

  • For the TEG jacket: 224 axle-lines and 12 power packs
  • For the TEH jacket: 190 axle-lines and 12 power packs
  • 34 ballast pumps
  • 17 PPU
  • 18 RoRo ramps

The equipment was mobilised from the HQ in Belgium and the Netherlands by road and took around 4 days to reach the site, 5 days to assemble the SPMTs, and 4 days for the ballasting installation.

The two jackets were transported to the quay site from the Dragados Offshore yard and loaded-out on the sea-going barge.

According to the Site Manager, Teresa Diaz Carlier, “The biggest challenge during transport was to avoid any movement of the jacket to ensure that they rest perfectly on each of the support points on the barge.” She adds, “Our skilled team maneuvered the jackets with utmost precision following all Covid-19 related social distancing and health guidelines.”
