The Danish industrial group, Bladt Industries, has won the contract to deliver transition pieces for the Calvados offshore wind farm (Courseulles-sur-Mer) in France.

Bladt Industries has been awarded by Saipem SA, a subsidiary of Saipem (an Italian global solution provider for energy and infrastructures sectors), a contract for the fabrication of 64 transition pieces especially designed for the Calvados offshore wind farm (Courseulles-sur-Mer), France.

The fabrication is planned to start in August this year with loadout planned for late 2022. Each transition piece will have a height of 24 meters and a weight of approximately 500 tons.

Fabrication and loadout of all 64 transition pieces will take place at Bladt Industries’ production facilities in Aalborg, Denmark.

The Calvados offshore wind farm will consist of 64 wind turbines with a total capacity of 450 MW and will be located 16 km off the French coast in water depths ranging from 22 to 31 meters. The wind farm will produce enough electricity to supply 630,000 people, which is more than 90% of the people who live in the Calvados region.

“We are proud to have been selected for this contract based on our proven track record in this field. We have an experienced and dedicated team ready to produce and deliver these 64 transition pieces for the Calvados offshore wind farm” says Anders Søe-Jensen, CEO, Bladt Industries.

“The confidence that Saipem has shown us by placing this order is an acknowledgement of our professionalism. We have already established a strong working relationship with Saipem and we look very much forward to participating in the construction of this first large offshore wind farm in France” says Bo Mørup, CCO at Bladt Industries.
