In January, Blue Water’s Agency department in Brest, France coordinated dry dock stay for cable vessel “Ile d’Aix”
The cable layer was in dry dock at Damen Shiprepair Brest for three days as one of her two 360°steerable thrusters needed repair.
“The short stay, which required good cooperation with the yard and vessel owner Alcatel Submarine Networks Marine, went as planned. After a similar dry dock stay last year, we are pleased to have been entrusted to assist Alcatel Submarine Networks Marine again”, says Alexandre Blanc, who was Blue Water’s Coordinator on the dry dock stay.
“Ile d’Aix” was built in 1992 in Singapore and was purchased by Alcatel Submarine Networks Marine The 151-metre cable layer, operated by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, can load 3,500 tons of cable (three tanks) and accommodate 90 people.
Alcatel Submarine Networks Marine was pleased with the efficient assistance provided by Blue Water during this dry dock. After the successful repair, “Ile d’Aix was afloat again in good time before her next mission in the Celtic Sea.
