COSCO SHIPPING Specialized completes transportation of 82 structures for Saipem’s Tortue project.

Greater Tortue Ahmeyim is an offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) project based on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal. It is the deepest offshore project in Africa till date. The LNG project is being jointly developed by BP, Kosmos Energy, Societe des Petroles du Senegal (Petrosen), and Societe Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMHPM) with BP as the operator while Saipem in a consortium with Eiffage Génie Civil Marine was awarded the EPCI contract for the near-shore terminal of the project.

Over the past 6 months, Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers has transported, on behalf of Saipem, 82 structures with a total weight of more than 33000 tons from Saipem’s yard in Karimun, Indonesia to the Tortue field. CSSC, as the leader in the semi-submersible market, has utilized 12 vessels for this project, a combination of Semi-submersible, Deck Carriers and Multipurpose vessels.
