Mid-2017 Global Wind Service (GWS) established Global Wind Service Australia PTY LTD and opened an office in Melbourne. Opening the office in Melbourne was an important step in the process of building a local organization in the country.

“Now we have chosen to send one on our wind industry veterans, Gary Horner from our UK office, to Melbourne to help develop and strengthen the local set-up even more. Australia is an important market for us now and in the future, and we are very ambitious about the market. Another very important reason for sending Gary to Melbourne is to make sure, that the right culture and our GWS DNA also becomes deeply anchored in our Australia organization. In this way we ensure that our clients always get the same high quality and level of performance no matter where in the world they meet us”, said Michael Høj Olsen, CEO of Global Wind Service.

GWS’ most recent project in Australia was Murra Warra, approx. 300km north-west of Melbourne, which finished in January this year. For Murra Warra GWS was contracted to deliver both crane and installation for the 61 Senvion 3.7M144 EBC wind turbines. Supposedly, the turbines have the largest rotor (144 metres) ever installed in the southern hemisphere.
