wedish floating wind outfit Hexicon AB said on Monday it has set up a joint venture (JV) for the development of floating wind power projects in Greece with local firm EAMAA.

Hexicon is moving to establish presence in the country as a new legal framework for offshore wind is expected there this year. It said the JV is in line with its strategy as an early-stage developer in key markets, where it joins forces with local businesses.

“We see great opportunities in Greece as they embark on the journey from fossil-fuels to renewables,” said Hexicon chief executive Marcus Thor.

Greece has set a target of producing 60% of its electricity from renewables by 2030.

The JV is called Hexicon Power SA and is led by Mikelis Chatzigakis as chief executive.
