Borssele Wind Farm Site V: Turning innovations into reality

A new sustainable energy zone is under construction some 20 kilometres off the Dutch coast: Borssele Wind Farm Site V. This site has been designated as an innovation site within the Borssele Wind Farm Zone. The Two Towers consortium, consisting of Van Oord, Investri Offshore and Green Giraffe, has been awarded the project and thus given a unique opportunity to test and demonstrate advanced technologies.

Project film series

Curious students of the HZ university of applied sciences following the minor Offshore Wind closely monitored and filmed the project preparation and execution. The web series consists of seven episodes, demonstrating Van Oord putting innovation into practice.

Episode 1: Introduction

What is the Borssele V project, what innovations are tested and why is Van Oord part of this project? Learn this and much more in the first episode of the Borssele V film series.

Episode 2: Introducing the slip joint

Installing a wind turbine foundation without using grout or bolts. A slip joint connection makes it possible! The second episode of the Borssele V film series is all about this innovative connection between a monopile and transition piece.

Episode 3: Testing the slip joint

This third episode of the Borssele V film series is about testing the slip joint. Our main goal is to find out what the corrosion behavior is inside the slip joint.

Jan Willem Elleswijk, Project Director Borssele V project said: By investing in the development of innovative ideas, Van Oord contributes to the energy transition towards renewable energy, improving environmental standards and strengthens its leading market position in offshore wind.
