PETROPERÚ and PETROAMAZONAS Will Evaluate the Execution of Projects in the Border of Peru and Ecuador

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of PETROPERU SA, Carlos Paredes Lanatta and the General Manager of PETROAMAZONAS EP of Ecuador, Lenin Pozo Cruz, signed in Quito the “Memorandum of Understanding for the feasibility analysis of the development of the oil exploration project in the southeast of Ecuador and its transport by the North Peruvian Pipeline of Peru”.

The signing of this agreement of the parties seeks to establish mutual cooperation actions between the two public companies, in which PETROAMAZONAS EP will analyze and evaluate the feasibility of developing the exploration and exploitation project of lots 86 and 87 in the south-east of its country; Meanwhile, PETROPERU S.A. will analyze the installed capacity of the ONP with a view to transporting Ecuadorian crude oil through this pipeline that crosses five regions of Peru.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy and Renewable Resources of Ecuador, Carlos Pérez and the Ambassador of Peru in this country, Vicente Rojas, who welcomed this agreement to develop projects of mutual interest for the benefit of both public companies.

Paredes Lanatta highlighted this bi-national alliance, through which PETROPERU and PETROAMAZONAS undertake to work for a year on two relevant projects that would generate development on the border of Peru and Ecuador.

“I look forward to this agreement that is important for the economic viability of the Pipeline and the development of the hydrocarbons sector,” he said.

PETROAMAZONAS is the Ecuadorian state oil company that carries out hydrocarbon extraction and production activities, with the objective of guaranteeing the supply of petroleum products in its country.

PETROPERU is the most important state company in the country, positioned as the pioneer, leader and emblematic company of Peru, dedicated to the transport, refining, distribution and marketing of fuels and other petroleum products.
