The Belgorod branch of “Quadra – Power Generation” has started the final phase of the reconstruction of the Gubkin HPP (heat power plant), which started in 2019. The energy specialists are to assemble auxiliary equipment and perform commissioning works at new turbine unit No. 4 of 12 MW in capacity. Currently, a platform for its maintenance is being installed.

“We have already installed turbine No. 4 and its generator on the foundation; now we are preparing auxiliary equipment. We plan to complete the works this spring,” said Vadim Pomelnikov, Deputy Chief Engineer for repairs of the Gubkin HPP.

An oil tank, electrical equipment, and cooling water pipelines are being installed for the new turbine unit at the plant. Besides, energy specialists have begun to install turbine oil coolers and build a room for a turbine operator.

Earlier, the cogeneration unit was reconstructed, steam turbine No. 1 was renovated, and new turbine unit No. 4 was purchased at the plant.

The re-equipment of the Gubkin HPP is aimed to improve the efficiency of the plant. The project is implemented within the framework of the Agreement between the Government of the Belgorod Region and “Quadra – Power Generation.” Its total cost is RUB 350 m.

The Gubkin HPP was put into operation on December 31, 1954. The plant forms a part of the Belgorod branch of PJSC “Quadra – Power Generation” and is the main heat source of Gubkin. The installed heat capacity of the HPP is 148 Gcal/h, and the installed electric capacity is 29 MW.
